Morning Offering
Come, Creator Spirit. Breathe life into me as I fill my whole being with you. Give me the graces to be captivated by your awe-inspiring beauty so that I might gain clarity and know without a doubt of your love for me. I give you any reservations or confusion I have so my soul will be drawn out of itself and into you. Lift the veil that lies before me so that I might experience you through the beauty I see in front of me today. I love you and I live this day for you. I lay this day with all my work, joys, and sorrows in your hands to redeem, mould, and shape into the masterpiece you desire. Amen.
Spiritual + Creative Prompt
This week’s spiritual and creative prompts will help us be in a place where we can be captivated by God’s love for us and reveal a clarity in our hearts where we no longer doubt God’s immense love.
By finding places of physical light and visiting Him in Eucharistic Adoration, we will be able to be captivated by God’s light filling every part of our hearts. We hope for doubt and confusion to be washed away by unveiling God’s love through truths spoken to us in prayer or through the ordinary parts of our lives. We will be able to be with beauty and know of His love for us by relishing phrases, quotes, or prayers that speak truth into our hearts. There will be no room for lies in these spiritual and creative practices. Only our Loving Father will be known to us.
Basking in Light and Adoration
This week, spend some time in natural light. Find a spot by a window or outside where you can sit comfortably for a time. Close your eyes and feel the brightness and warmth. Ask yourself: Do I doubt God’s love for me in certain areas of my life? Where do I have trouble seeing God?
Now, ask the Lord to let His light pierce those places of your spirit. Ask Him to reveal even some small Truth to you, about who you are in relation to who He is.
If you are able to visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration at some point this week, let your heart be filled with His presence and love there. Encounter Him and allow yourself to gaze upon Him in awe. He is there for you, to show you His love for you, to show you you aren’t alone. Show up for Him and be captivated.
Beautiful Truths
Materials:
Sketchbook
Something to write with. You could use a pencil or pen, markers, or watercolor paint and paintbrush. A pointed pen and ink would also be fun to try!
Optional: Bible or devotional
Directions:
Choose a word, phrase, prayer, or passage from scripture (we love the Psalms for inspiration!) to write beautifully and artistically in your sketchbook. Throughout the week return to this page in your sketchbook. Thank God for His Goodness, Beauty, and Truth.
There are so many ways to make your chosen words visually compelling. Test out different styles and colors and materials!
Make it your own:
Consider these suggestions, especially If you are working in your own creative (non-sketchbook) hobby/medium.
If your creative hobby/outlet allows, spend some time creating in a light-filled place and imagine God’s light permeating through you as you work.
Ponder a truth that God has revealed to you in prayer this week.
Depict something that has captivated you recently through an element of your work.
If you aren’t able to sit and work on these prompts due to the season of life you’re in (toddlers, work obligations, etc.), remember that we’re called to make our very lives a work of art! This week, reflect on the themes, reflection questions, and ideas in this week’s prompts during your daily activities.
Evening Offering
Redeemed: An Evening Offering of the Day’s Beauty
Giver of good gifts, thank you for inviting me to participate in the mystery of your creation. Thank you for all I have received today. As I lay my body down tonight, I offer you the fruits of my labors, and with them, the shortcomings, failures, and fears that prevent me from resting in the beauty of your embrace. Creator of the universe, you are making all things new, even now. Help me to trust in your redemptive power so that when I rise I am ready once more to receive and serve you. Amen.
